- Pulp and Paper Bleaching
Pulp and Paper Bleaching
- Reduces environmental impact (COD, AOX, Water consumption)
- Reduces the colour in the effluent
- Reduces COD and BOD to be treated and finally rejected
- High ROI through significantly lower chemical cost
- No impact on pump quality
The main goal of pulp bleaching is achieving degradation & dissolution of lignin and extractives while increasing whiteness/brightness and maintaining fibre quality.
Off late there have been more and more stringent controls on AOX content in the pulp and paper effluent which are formed due to large quantities of chemicals used in the bleaching process. Paper mills are now taking conscious measures to reduce effluent QOX by adopting environment friendly technologies like Ozone. There are already many mills that have converted or in the process of conversion to ECF technology [Elemental chlorine free]. The next stage would be TCF. The use of Ozone brings about significant cost saving while achieving all the main goals of paper and pulp bleaching.
