Pure water (PW), Ultra-pure water (UPW) and Water for injection (WFI)

  • Reducing Water Usage
  • Considerably Lower Power Costs
  • Increased production time and lower sanitization time
  • The Return on investment for Ozone in Pure water loops is typically less than 6 months.
  • Aqua Purificata or purified water is an essential raw material used in the pharmaceutical industry, commercial beverage industry, the automotive industry and other applications like autoclaves, hand-pieces, laboratory testing, laser cutting etc.In the Pharmaceutical industry water of this grade is widely used as a raw material, ingredient, and solvent in the processing, formulation, and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates, and analytical reagents.
In the commercial beverage industry as the primary ingredient of any given trademarked bottling formulaElectrolytic Ozone systems producing Ozone directly from water to reduce external contamination are increasingly being used to sanitize purified water loops at production facilities around the world. Reducing water usage, considerably lower power costs, increased production time and lower sanitization time can be realized with the adoption of ozone for purified water loop sanitization. The Return on investment for Ozone in Pure water loops is typically less than 6 month, while meeting The European Pharmacopoeia, the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (CP) standards

Ultrapure water (UPW) or highly purified water (HPW) is water that has treated to the highest levels of purity for all contaminant types. Electrolytic Ozone systems producing Ozone directly from water to reduce external contamination is the best available technology for Ultra-pure water sterilization.

Primary uses are in the semiconductor industry as a cleaning and etching agent.

Sterile Water for Injection, is sterile, non-pyrogenic, distilled water in a single dose container for intravenous administration after addition of a suitable solute

For pharma and biotech companies that require cold water for injection (WFI) mainly the revised European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) monograph 0169 represents a big opportunity

With lower power consumption, shorter sanitization cycles and lower production down time, electrolytic or water based ozone generators are replacing traditional steam sterilization systems across the world.

FAQs

The preferred method for generating ozone in pure water applications is the electrolytic method. It uses a PEM membrane to produce ozone directly from pure water, generating a small amount of ozone at very high concentrations. This method is used exclusively for disinfection and loop sanitization in purified water, ultra-pure water, and water for injection applications.

The UV method generates ozone using UV light shorter than 240 nm and is primarily used in very low-concentration applications, such as air treatment. It is not suitable for purified water applications.

The corona discharge method generates ozone at high concentrations using a high-voltage barrier discharge. It is commonly used in air-based ozone generators for water and wastewater treatment applications, including color and odor removal, COD reduction, pollutant removal, and disinfection. However, it is not used for purified water applications.

Water-based Ozone systems generate a small amount of Ozone directly from pure water at very high concentrations. Since Ozone solubility is higher at lower temperatures, a water temperature of less than 25 degrees Celsius is preferred. The conductivity limit for using water-based ozone systems is <20 S/ccm. At low conductivity, the material of choice for piping and tanks is SS316L.
